Thornton W. Allen was commissioned to compose a football song for Maryland in 1928. His offering is our best known song of spirit, The Victory Song. Thornton was not associated with the university but was a well known composer of college songs. The chorus of the tune, heard here, is played when the Terrapins just scored or are winning the game.
