Description:
Drawing on four years of research on the grounds of four new mixed-income developments that are a part of Chicago's ambitious public housing transformation, Dr. Mark Joseph will discuss the opportunities and challenges of mixed-income development. Dr. Joseph will focus on issues of design and on social relations among residents. He will argue that greater intentionality is needed in order to maximize the impact of these developments and ensure their long-term sustainability. He will also consider the relevance of what is being learned in mixed-income developments for broader questions of race and class integration in our society. This event will provide 1.5 CM credits for AICP members
